Green Hydrangea Flowers is a full-service floral design studio located in Cleveland Park in Washington, DC.

Our signature style is a polished, luxe look, with full-blown, fresh florals.  We use bold colors, pastels, and whites to create memorable and unique arrangements that pop with energy and beauty.

Each arrangement is hand-crafted, with thoughtful attention to color, texture, and design.  We love premium flowers.  Ranunculus, calla lilies, dahlias, roses, peonies, orchids, freesia, hydrangea, anemones, and tulips are among our favorites.  We use green hydrangea to provide structure and support within the arrangement.  The resulting look is lovely, rich, and textured.

About The Designer

Tess Finnegan is the owner and lead designer at Green Hydrangea Flowers. A former federal trial attorney, Tess knew after a stint in Paris that she needed more color, more love, and more joy in her life.  Inspired by the gorgeous, hand-tied bouquets from her favorite Parisian florists, and recognizing her penchant for putting fresh flowers all over her drab government office, Tess took a leap. She left six-figures on the table to follow her passion, and joined Ultra Violet Flowers in Washington, DC. There, she started at the bottom — answering phones, sweeping floors, and washing glassware. She quickly worked her way to the top — creating her own designs, managing the shop, developing business, and organizing large weddings and events.

Tess founded Green Hydrangea Flowers in November 2014 in her garage with a single client. Business has grown steadily by word of mouth throughout Washington, DC, despite the pressures of the pandemic. Her story has been featured in Sara Bliss’s book, Taking The Leap; the podcast, Life 2.0; and the publications Forbes, DC Modern Luxury, Home & Design, and the Northern Virginia magazine. Her work has been featured in DC’s Art in Bloom exhibit. She lives in Chevy Chase, MD, with her husband, three children, and dog.
